Photosynthesis
Photosynthesis is using energy from the sun to produce food. Photosynthesis is a process in which green plants and other certain organisms by which carbohydrates is synthesized from carbon dioxide and water using light as an energy source. Most forms of photosynthesis release oxygen as a byproduct. Without the process of Photosynthesis, plants wouldn't be able to make their own food. They use the energy from sunlight, water and carbon dioxide to make glucose which is a form of food. Glucose also known as sugar. Plants that photosynthesis contain chloroplasts, which contain the chemical known as chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is what give plants colour, it is found in the plant cells. This process then traps the sunlight and is a fluid, the energy that has been trapped is stored in the stroma. The Hydrogens from the water is combined with Carbon Dioxide in the Calvin cycle, and glucose is produced. Glucose is the food of plants and is used to make energy so it can live. Photosynthesis cannot be performed without Sunlight, Carbon Dioxide, Water and Chlorophyll.
Sunlight
The formula of Photosynthesis is: Water + Carbon Dioxide --------------> Oxygen + Food (Starch) = Photosynthesis.
Chlorophyll
The word Photo stands for = Light. The word Synthesis stands for = Combine. To conclude it up, it means = Light Combined.
Chlorophyll
Most plant leaves are green, this is because they contain Chlorophyll. Even different coloured plants such as red, purple or pink contain Chlorophyll. But the substance which the plants contain hide the Chlorophyll.
Starch
Starch is a white, tasteless, solid carbohydrate. It is a type of sugar that gives plants energy to build new cells for leaves, roots, flowers and seeds. Starch is stored in the roots and seeds until it is needed.
Carbon Dioxide
Carbon Dioxide is a colourless and odourless gas that is in the air. Carbon Dioxide is formed when any fuel containing carbon is burned. Carbon Dioxide is breathed out of an animal's lungs during respiration. Carbon Dioxide is used by plants in photosynthesis. It contains Carbon, which is an important part of glucose and starch. The Chemical Formula for Carbon Dioxide: Co2
Water
Water is the main ingredient in the process of Photosynthesis. Without water, plants wouldn't have the energy to produce starch. As water enters the plant, it gets taken up the stem to the leaves where Photosynthesis takes place. Long tubes called Xylem are in the stem of the the leaf veins. The Xylem then carries up the water through the stem into the veins of the leaves. The water then moves into a layer of the leaf and into the cells where Photosynthesis takes place. The Chemical Formula for Water: H2o.
Sunlight
Sunlight is also one of the main ingredients for Photosynthesis, since Photo mean Light it is obvious that without Sunlight, Photosynthesis cannot be performed, and Starch cannot be produced. Some plants such as ferns do not need much sunlight to produce Starch.

How does Sunlight effect the growth of a Bean Seed?
Bean plants are plants that require sunlight in order to perform Photosynthesis. A lack of sunlight will cause the plant to grow taller. It will grow taller to search for sunlight, if it receives water it will turn yellow in colour.
